About Our Clinic
At Bellingham Orthopedic Acupuncture we have a passion for understanding pain. We focus on orthopedic acupuncture because it works. Utilizing traditional acupuncture techniques combined with modern motor point, trigger point, and orthopedic testing, orthopedic acupuncture is a perfect blend of Chinese and Western medical perspectives. A thorough and layered knowledge of anatomy allows us to address the source of musculoskeletal pain conditions. We like to use a combination of acupuncture, cupping, and body work as well as an acupuncture based TENS unit to tailor individual treatments for each client.
Acupuncturists train for 3-5 years, far above and beyond the weekend courses offered in dry needling for other health care practitioners. We offer safe non-surgical options for all types of pain conditions, both recent and chronic. An acupuncturist studies anatomy in a hands on and multi dimensional way that includes being able to feel almost every muscle in the body and understand how they fit together. This intimate knowledge of muscles, nerves, bones, and the vast network of connections between them helps us better understand the source of your pain.

About Me
I specialize in orthopedic acupuncture. I am passionate about acupuncture's ability to treat pain as well a wide range of other conditions. Originally preparing for Nursing school at WWU and Whatcom Community College, I took different turn in 2010 and decided to study acupuncture. It changed the course of my life and led me to a 4 year course of study in Portland, Oregon. While there I focused on pain management through orthopedic testing, trigger point, and motor point therapy and integrating massage into my acupuncture treatments. After completing my acupuncture program I went to China for an internship. It was great to get hands of experience in hospitals there as well as additional herbal training. I had the opportunity to travel out to the farms and facilities where the herbs are grown and processed. After the internship I wasn't quite ready to give up traveling. I joined a cruise ship to work as an Acupuncturist, travel, and promote the benefits of acupuncture. I loved learning how acupuncture is viewed in different countries and the similar problems we all face. I decided it was time to come back and relocate near my family and make Bellingham home. I have been practicing in Bellingham for the last 6 years. I hope to see you in the office and I am happy to answer any questions you have.
A year ago I fell 10 feet onto my back. Since then each day I would wake up with back pain on one side. Every morning for a year I have monitored my back, conscious of a flare up which has happened many times. It was Jessica who said "you are too young to be accepting this for the rest of your life." Until then I considered myself fortunate to "get away" with just muscle tissue damage. I have an aversion to needles and there is some slight pain, however with 10 needles in your back it will surprise you to experience total relaxation. I wanted to pass these words on as I had reservations. It was Jessica's words that convinced me to try. I had accepted my accident had permanently damaged my body. With this mindset I found myself with tiny needles in my back to repair the damaged tissue. After 3 visits I don't wake up with pain anymore. Seems too good to be true. Thanks to Jessica
